Painting The Computer Camouflage

Painting the computer case camouflage doesn’t make it run any faster and help out with the game, its just cool. Painting a computer case has been on my to do list for years and I finally did it. Before starting I checked out two YouTube videos that were decent. The first was pretty good but because the computer case was large and flat I didn’t think this method would work very well. The second method was more fitting to my application and I liked the simple patterns so I adapted it for my own use.

You can see the results. I won’t bore you with details about how I got paint on my fingers but here are a couple notes:

  • I used a expensive dark green spray paint formulated to adhere to plastic as a base coat. Then I painted patterns using a cheap flat black and brown.
  • Try not to use paper for templates, the paint causes the edges to curl up.
  • Be sure to get some overlapping colors, brown on black, and black on brown.
  • If lettering, use a stencil that has some variation to the letters and doesn’t have many straight lines. It is harder to trace but hides imperfection better.

The LAN Party is going to be a blast.

LAN PARTY! Call of Duty:United Offensive

My friends and I decided it was time for a LAN party. Over the years there have been many good memories playing Call of Duty so for the same of good-old-times we decided to play it at the LAN Party. Its an older game but it should run great on everyone’s machine.

If you are in the Ironwood, MI area and want to join in check out the LAN Party page for more information.

Company, Attack!

LAN Parties may be hard to setup and tedious because of hauling around equipment and hooking up cables but it sure beats playing online against some faceless foe. LS, MR, and myself got together for a little action playing Company of Heroes. WO couldn’t join us because he was resting up. It was a good game, at the end of the evening we were holding our own in 3 vs. 3 against the computer. The computer skill level was expert, hard, and normal (hard/expert?).

Previous LAN Party Events

Spontaneity led to a couple short LAN Parties this summer. Although they were not planned very far in advance it was still a great time. With school looming a couple weeks away and the LAN Nook selling off the gaming computers we gathered together and made the best of it.

The event was held at the Hardwood Interiors office again and we all brought a little something. I supplied soda, a cake, and some other junk food. J.K. brought a pizza and everyone had their fill of sugar, pop, and mind twisting computer games like Descent 3 (I think I feel sea sick :-x).

We played Total Annihilation, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, Quake, Quake 3, and Descent 3. Personally I wanted to play some Transport Tycoon but some members of the group didn’t want to deal with the learning curve so we stuck to those games we had in common.

Another great LAN Party hosted at the Hardwood Interiors office. The event was from 10 a.m. until almost 8:30 p.m. and everyone had a blast. The games played were Counter Strike 1.7, Unreal Tournament: Game Of The Year Edition, some Counter-Strike:Source, and Unreal Tournament 2003.

There was enough good junk food for everyone and we all had our fill of Mountain Dew:Pitch Black to drink (gross). Mental note to self, order pizza next time!
